The High Court has issued an order staying the recruitment of 3,534 candidates under the Technical Education Board for three months. The candidates were being recruited for the posts of junior instructor (Tech) or physical education instructor (10th grade) in various polytechnic institutes and technical schools and colleges.
The court issued the order following a writ petition filed by 18 candidates challenging the legality of the recruitment process. The petitioners alleged fraud in the recruitment examination, claiming that the candidates were selected based on MCQ and viva tests without any written examination.
The High Court bench, led by Justice Md Akram Hossain Chowdhury and Justice KM Rasheduzzaman Raja, has also asked the government authorities to explain why the appointments should not be cancelled over the alleged irregularities.
The final results for the recruitment were published on November 26, recommending 3,534 appointments in 44 categories. The candidates were supposed to join the service on January 29, but due to the HC order, they cannot join at this time.
