A case has been filed accusing gateman Saddam Hossain in connection with the death of 12 people in a collision between a train and a microbus at a level crossing in Chattogram's Mirsharai.

Assistant SI Jahirul Islam filed the case early Saturday (July 30) against the gateman for his negligence in duty.

Nazim Uddin, Government Railway Police Station's OC, said gateman Saddam Hossain, who was on-duty during the accident, will be produced in court showing him arrest.

Sixteen people including teachers and students of R&J Coaching Centre went to see Khoiyachhara fountain by a microbus on Friday morning.

They met the accident when a speeding Chattogram-bound 'Mahanagar Provati' train rammed the microbus at Bartakia Railway Station area at about 1:45pm, leaving 11 tourists dead on the spot and five others injured. There was no gateman at that time.

The injured were admitted to Chattogram Medical College Hospital where another one succumbed to his injuries.

The bodies of the deceased have been handed over to their families through legal procedures.
